WE ARE OPENING ON 6th JULY

We are pleased to announce that we are able to welcome our students back in centre from Monday July 6th.  All our current students will be contacted to discuss their needs.  Anybody who wishes to continue to access our services online will be able to.  If your child is not currently receiving tuition with us and you would like to discuss how we can help with their learning, please do contact us.  There will be a number of changes to our operation in order to observe social distancing and you will be informed of these before your child attends the centre.   We look forward to seeing you soon, Clare, Gareth and the Kip Team.

ONLINE AND FACE TO FACE:

We continue to provide most of our tuition online via our virtual classroom and are able to offer tuition to existing and new clients- an initial assessment is offered before tuition commences.  We are also able to provide professional dyslexia and dyscalculia screening tests, online and in centre.

We are able to provide a small number of sessions face to face in our Scunthorpe Centre for those students who do not have the technology, for students funded by the LEA or for younger students.  Please do contact us to discuss how we can assist your child in their learning journey.  We are monitoring the government guidelines and intend to offer 11+ mock exams in centre in July and August.

ONLINE TUITION:

Good news – our online virtual classroom is ready and we are looking forward to seeing everyone next week!

After looking at various options, we have decided to use Zoom to run the online sessions. Zoom is easy to use and we will be sending the link and code before the first session. If you have not used Zoom before and would like to test it out ahead of the first session, please use this test link. ZOOM TEST

The online sessions will run for 60 minutes instead of the usual 80 minutes as some may find it difficult to focus after an hour of online tuition. However, the teacher will be available for 90 minutes for those wanting the extra time. There will also be the opportunity to chat with other students for a few minutes before and after the session just to keep things as close as possible to an in-centre experience.

Another essential for the online sessions is iKip which some students are already using to access their homework. Login instructions will be sent as needed. Once completed homework is returned, it will be marked and returned to the student.

ONLINE ASSESSMENTS:

We are now able to offer online assessments. If you would like to book an asssessment please feel free to test the compatibility of your device with our platform and familiarise yourself with it before completing an assessment booking form which you will find on our home page.

20th March 2020

All students whose tuition is paid by their school or the local authority will continue to receive their tuition as normal

For all Year 11 Students who would like to embark on their A-Level studies early we will be providing their tuition at the lower GCSE tuition rate until the new academic year in September

Following the government announcement on Friday 20th March, it is with a heavy heart that we will be closing the Centre from Monday 23rd March. To help us adjust as a business to the government directive, we will bring our Easter break forwards, so will be closed for all lessons for the next week. We will not be able to offer holiday sessions during this time.

In order to restructure our tuition services, and to ensure that we are compliant with the new government directives, we will spend the next week preparing and training staff to be able to offer alternative tuition services for your children.

It is our intention to resume tuition for your children from Monday 30th March, and we are aiming to be able to offer a range of flexible options such as flexi lessons, which allow children to undertake work programmes at home, online face to face tuition with a physical teacher, and physical face to face tuition should this be acceptable, safe and appropriate based on the up to date advice from the government.

We will be in touch over the following week to let you know exactly where, when and what services we can offer to your children to continue to support their education.

This is an extremely difficult time for many thousands of people, and we would like to personally thank you for the incredible support you have shown us during this period so far. We’d like to say a heartfelt farewell to our Year 11 students whose tuition came to a sad and abrupt end this week. It has been our pleasure helping you prepare for the next phase of your learning and the efforts you have put in will most certainly help your progression into further learning.

Allowing us to spend the next week to plan, prepare and retrain will enable us to offer you a first class service moving forwards through these difficult times.

If you would like to speak to us, please feel free to email us at admin@tutoringscunthorpe.co.uk or call us on 01724 375948. Our phone lines will continue to be answered as usual.

Best wishes,

Gareth, Clare & the Kip McGrath Scunthorpe team
