11 Plus What Parents Need To Know.

The competition for Grammar School places is increasing.  Therefore it is important that parents understand what is involved. The 11 plus exam includes skills not usually taught in schools.  Since 2008 Clare has tutored for the 11 + exam .  Recently she has published a systematic programme. Most children are not taught Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning skills at school. These are the key skills in an 11 plus exam. A secure knowledge of the skills is the key to success. Our structured 11 + exam programme teaches children all the key skills. Once the skills are mastered children are exposed to exam papers. We provide opportunities to complete timed mock exam papers. By the time they sit the final papers they are confident. The centre most commonly prepares students for Gainsborough and Caistor Grammar Schools. They have also prepared students for Hillhouse in Doncaster, Hull Hymers, Lincoln Minster, Horncastle Grammar School and Pocklington School in York. With their knowledge and flexibility they are able to ensure students have the best preparation.

Our structured 11 plus exam programme commences in Year 5. Many Year 4 students benefit from studying at the centre. During this time we focus on vocabulary, spelling, reading comprehension and Maths skills. This ensures that students have a firm foundation.
